Core Business
-
IP- Converged Communications Networks.
Research has shown that telecommunication end-user behavior is rapidly changing
due to globalization, the increased value placed on individuality, new patterns
of social networking and an increasingly nomadic lifestyle. From a service
perspective, the consumer and enterprise business user expect convenience, ease
of use, reliability, security and support to be always best connected. At the
same time, competitive pressures demand service providers enable end user to cut
costs, strengthen customer service and increase efficiency. Converged networks
promise benefits in each of these areas.
As New players emerge and competition increases new partnerships are being
formed and old boundaries for conducting business fade away. In this changing
business environment, operators explore different ways to find new revenue
streams, reduce operating costs, and provide solutions that create stickiness
and reduce churn. The successful operator will provide a multitude of new
services. Many of the services will be available by both mobile and fixed
access. Others will represent a combination of TV, Internet and telephony
content– all of these multiple services when offered on a single network are
termed as converged services.
GeoNet Services converge on internet protocol (IP) networks. And this Internet
Protocol and the Internet paradigm are being introduced in all areas of
communication industry.
Rapid development of radio technology, for example, is leading to increased bit
rates and support for mobility thus enabling offering of converged services – an
end-user can receive same service irrespective of the mode of interface- whether
on mobile or fixed wireless interfaces or wire access.
Operators that adapt IP convergence in their strategic business plan,
considering the changing environment, and with an early introduction of
converged services will gain a competitive edge. Furthermore, the introduction
of layered architecture will improve efficiency, flexibility and enable a smooth
introduction of IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), a cornerstone for efficient
converged service offerings.
GeoNet is constantly positioning itself at the tip- of network convergence-
between media (Video), datacom (data) and telecommunication (voice) industries,
as shown in Figure 1.

Standard Ethernet Technology
From Backhaul to Access
GeoNet Networks is focused to allow our customers Do More with Less. We’ve
deployed Intelligent and Lower Cost Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS)
networks to allow differentiated services to our customers by sending business
critical traffic over the guaranteed shortest distance and lowest latency path,
and all this using standard Ethernet technology.
Higher performance and guaranteed service for business critical applications
means improved productivity for the business. MPLS also gives the service
providers riding on our infrastructure unprecedented efficiency, lowering their
costs, which in turn is passed on to their customers. The flexibility of
service, potential for higher performance guaranteed, and the lowered costs all
play to the mandates for business to do more with less.
Broadband Wireless- WiMax
GeoNet’s WiMAX (World Interoperability for Microwave Access, and IEEE 802.16)
solution is A wireless standard designed to extend local Wi-Fi networks across
greater distances such as a campus, as well as to provide last mile connectivity
to an ISP or other carrier with a range of up to 30 miles, enabling networks to
have a wireless last mile solution.

ITSP (Internet Telephony Service Provider)
GeoNet’s Strengths is in Internet Telephony Service. With developments in IP
networking in general and the Internet in particular, the ability to transmit
voice calls which have been traditionally handled by the public switched
telephone networks (PSTN) over a lower cost IP infrastructure has become a
reality. More and more users are researching VoIP capability when purchasing a
connection to the Internet or simply expanding their private intranet. VoIP
based telephony has also provided a very cost-effective solution for companies
that have locations in many disparate regions and require connectivity back to
their headquarters.
Prepaid Services include the following products:
Internet Services Residential/Corporate & Hotspot Access
As the network and end-user technologies underpinning fixed and mobile services
become increasingly aligned around Internet Protocol, new services are appearing
that attempt to harness the best of both mobile and fixed worlds.
In response, GeoNet has to consider its strategic options in its quest for
future growth placing strategic bets on fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) to
satisfy a perceived customer demand, as mobile becomes redefined as personalized
mobility services for an access-independent era.
